Popular Diets That Everyone Must Consider
Having a fabulous body is not the only goal of health buffs and nutritionists around the world – it is more of a positive side effect. Many diets crash and fail because people set the wrong motives for having one! Successful nutritionists are successful because healthy lifestyle for them is more than just looking good on the outside. They eat right and exercise because they want to live a longer and healthier life.
Setting the right mindset to diets can have drastic results. People who commit to being healthy, and not looking good, tend to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Unlike us who are only good at starting a plan. New Year is almost around the corner, and along with it are many resolutions we try to keep. Let’s find out more about successful diet plans that will help achieve a healthier 2018.
1. Atkins diet
The Atkins diet is a low-carbohydrate diet that is usually recommended for people who want to lose weight. The Atkins diet was originally promoted by a physician named Dr. Robert C. Atkins, who wrote a best-selling book about the diet in 1972. The Atkins diet is a four-phase meal plan that regulates the body’s intake of carbohydrates. It claims that a person will lose an average of 15 pounds in the first two weeks of this diet.
2. Ketogenic diet
Ketogenic is somehow similar to the Atkins diet in a way that it is also a low-carbohydrate diet. This diet intends to replace carbohydrates with fat as a source of energy. That is why people on keto diet are consuming more fat than carbs and protein. It may seem impossible to lose weight by eating fat, but it does really work. The science behind it is that by consuming fat, the body is also burning fat. The ketogenic diet has been used for decades as a treatment for epilepsy and is also being explored for other uses.
3. Vegetarian diet
Consuming more greens is linked to a healthier lifestyle. That is also the reason why the vegetarian diet is one of the most popular diets for decades now. Reasons for following a vegetarian diet are varied but include health benefits, such as reducing your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. The common misconception about this diet is that people are not allowed to eat meat. That is supposed to be the goal, but there are six types of vegetarianism that allow people to consume meat and animal byproducts. An example of which is the Lacto-vegetarian where the diets exclude meat, fish, poultry, and eggs, as well as foods that contain them. Dairy products, such as milk, cheese, yogurt, and butter, on the other hand, are allowed.
4. The Zone diet
Zone diet is very popular with cross-fitters and gym goers. The Zone Diet is created by Barry Sears, a Biochemist. The Zone diet aims for a nutritional balance of 40 percent carbohydrates, 30 percent fats, and 30 percent protein in each meal. It also recommends up to five meals a day with the 40:30:30 ratio to help satiate the body’s hunger and avoid overeating. Unlike Atkins and Keto diet, the Zone diet does not promote a low intake of a specific mineral. In fact, it addresses people to have a balanced consumption of protein, carbohydrates, and fats.
5. South Beach diet
The famous South Beach Diet has also many weight loss claims. It has three phases, and each phase is characterized by increasing the consumption of carbohydrates while reducing fat and protein intake. The first phase of the diet aims to reduce 13 pounds within two weeks. The diet also does not limit on calorie count but it still comes with recommended food like lean meat and vegetables. It also recommends light snacks between meals in the morning and evening. South Beach Diet was created by cardiologist Dr. Agatston, and a nutritionist, Marie Almon.
6. Raw Food Diet
Raw Food diet is sometimes called Raw Veganism. The diet limits the person to eat mostly or completely raw and unprocessed foods. This diet is commonly composed of vegetables, fruits, and nuts. There are types of the Raw food diet where people also eat raw meat, fish, and animal-produce like eggs and milk.
