‘Ocean’s 8’ Star Mindy Kaling Shares Unbelievable Post-Baby Weight Loss Progress

Best known for being a part of one of the best comedy sitcoms in the United States, The Office, Mindy Kaling, definitely made a name for herself when it comes to the Hollywood comedy scene. In fact, this year alone, she has become a part of an ensemble cast in not just one but two films.
The fantasy adventure film with Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey entitled A Wrinkle in Time, and the upcoming film with Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna entitled “Ocean’s 8.” Aside from that, she also did a couple of voice acting projects with big animated films such as “Despicable Me,” “Inside Out,” and “Wreck-It Ralph.” She recently had a child but as it turns out, she even used her great acting skills that she managed to hide her pregnancy from her co-star, find out how she did it and more about her post-baby body.
Hiding Pregnancy On Set
Celebrities have a habit of hiding or at least try to hide if they are currently having a major life change such as getting engaged, married, new relationship, ended a relationship, and the most common one of all, pregnancy. This is exactly what comedienne Mindy Kaling did while she was filming “Ocean’s 8.”
They began filming in 2016 and in a three-way interview with the New York Times including Sandra Bullock, Kaling admitted that she actually hid her pregnancy from her cast mates. She revealed that when they were all out for dinner and she was about two weeks pregnant and said that she was on heavy antibiotics.
This is because her co-star Sandra Bullock and another co-star Sarah Paulson were trying to urge her and make her drink a couple of cocktails. Although Kaling admitted that she told them she was taking antipsychotic, the comedienne actually wished she could’ve gotten drunk with them but she unfortunately obviously couldn’t at that time.

Kaling then recalled how she actually didn’t know she was going to be working with an ensemble cast at first and felt very honored to become a part of it. She had admitted that she only knew them by what the interviews, entertainment news, and magazines would say about them.
But actually trying to get to know them while doing a 12-hour scene gave her a chance to get a glimpse of who they really are and she is amazed by all of them. The 38-year old actress also revealed that she actually had to learn how to speak in Hindi just for a particular scene in the film, this came to a shock by everyone since she is of Indian descent.
Kaling admitted that she didn’t grow up knowing how to speak Hindi, which is why it was incredibly challenging for her and she even considers it as the most difficult thing every actor would do. She had to take a coach because learning it definitely stressed her out. Kaling’s parents are both Indian but they never taught her or spoke with her in Hindi while she was growing up.
Post-Baby Weight Loss Journey
Last October, Kaling announced on The Ellen DeGeneres show that she was having a baby girl, but it wasn’t the very first time she actually said it since it was her “A Wrinkle in Time” co-star Oprah Winfrey was the one who announced the big news to the public. Kaling chose not to tell anyone who the father of her child is since she is single and wasn’t exactly dating anyone. On December 15 she gave birth to her first child Katherine Kaling, but that is not the only information people want since they want to know how she was able to handle all the post-baby weight.
Kaling revealed that she was not skinny at all, to begin with, but gaining weight during pregnancy is something almost every expectant mother worries about. In an interview with Shape magazine, the comedienne said that her doctor told her that women who gain between 25-30 pounds during their pregnancy are most likely to lose it way more easily than those who gain more than that, and that is the reason why she made sure to only keep it between and she managed to by only gaining 27 pounds.
Kaling also revealed that during her post-baby weight loss journey, she didn’t actually give up her favorite foods such as sushi and cocktails because she doesn’t believe that it is actually healthy to deprive your mind and body of something that it wants, hence she only take them in moderation. She usually eats half or less of what she craves for just to be able to give that satisfaction and not exactly feel sad about not having it.
