What are the best methods for improving your metabolism?
Build Muscle
The body is consistently burning calories even when you are not involved in any activity. The resting rate of metabolism is higher in people who have more muscles. Every pound of muscle utilizes six calories per day to sustain itself. One pound of fat only burns two calories per day, and the difference can accumulate over a period of time. When you indulge in a session of strength training, the muscles in your body are activated, increasing your average rate of metabolism.
Increase Your Workouts
Building big muscles should not be your objective when you are working out with aerobic exercise. However, it can increase your metabolism after the workout. Your objective should be to push yourself into high-intensity exercise because it can deliver an increase in the resting rate of metabolism as compared to low intensity or moderate workouts. If you wish to enjoy the benefits, get involved in an intensive class at the gym. You can also include short bursts of jogging during your regular walking sessions.
Take Plenty of Water
When processing calories, your body will need plenty of water. Chances of your metabolism strolling down are high if your body is even mildly dehydrated. Studies have shown that people who had about eight glasses of water every day burned more calories than the people who had just four glasses. In order to stay hydrated, you should take a glass of water or any unsweetened drink before every meal or snack. Snacking on fruits and vegetables will also be helpful because they naturally contain water.
Should Take Energy Drinks?
Certain ingredients from energy drinks are helpful in boosting your metabolism. These are generally full of caffeine, which can increase the use of energy by the body. Some energy drinks also have taurine, which is an amino acid and is helpful in boosting metabolism. However, using these drinks can create problems such as hypertension, anxiety, and insomnia among some people. The American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend energy drinks for children and teenagers.
Snacking Smartly Can Also Help Metabolism
Eating more often and not just eating more can also help to improve your metabolism. Your metabolism slows down between meals when you are having large meals with a gap of many hours in between. Having small meals every 3 to 4 hours can keep your metabolism higher, helping you to burn more calories during the day. Research shows that people who snack regularly usually eat less during their meal time.
Have Some Spicy Meals
Natural chemicals that are present in spicy foods can push your metabolism higher. Cooking your food with chopped green or red chili pepper can improve your rate of metabolism. Despite the effects being temporary, having spicy foods often provide a number of benefits. You can even spice up certain dishes using red pepper flakes.
