Meditation has been a part of human civilization for thousands of years, owing its roots to the lands India, before being adopted by ancient Asian civilizations, and finally the Western society.

If that’s not enough, Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, is paying up to $1000 to master Transcendent Meditation. That being said, here are some of the ways that you can incorporate this popular art into your life schedule.

Select the meditation that you would like to exercise

Some of the forms of meditation that are currently trending in the United States are actually derivatives of Buddhist and ancient Hindu practices that kickstarted in India and made their way through Asia.

In modern times, meditation has seen a transference from a religious standpoint, to a healthy exercise of the mind and body especially in the West.

Hence, one of the first things that an individual should consider before selecting a type of meditation is their mindfulness. Additionally, they should focus on their breathing as being a determinant factor.

One can begin by first taking basic classes from a teacher, however, you have the freedom to do so without having to spend your money.

Get a routine going with a smartphone app

There are quite a number of ways you can begin meditation. However, if you plan to go it alone, then getting access to meditation apps is one way to go. Not only are these apps geared to help you begin your meditation with a workable routine, but also give you great pointers to keep you going.

Hence, you can review the different types of meditation apps around and figure the most suitable one for you.

Ensure that you stay dedicated to this routine

Whether you begin with a 10-minute routine or dedicate an hour a day to your workout, make sure you adhere to it through and through. This can include setting an alarm that allocates a specific part if your day to meditation. With time, it will automatically become a mantra.

Ensure that you are comfortable with the meditation selection

There are some meditation arts and techniques that take years to master. Hence, it would be wise that you select a meditation that will slowly ease you into its core principles. There’s no point in selecting a technique that knocks the wind out of you, only for you to later quit half-way through

Take deep breaths during your meditation

As you know, breathing is a vital part of meditation. Hence, you should focus on the technique that you apply when it comes to your breathing. Most experienced meditators advise that learners adopt the technique of breathing heavily through their nostrils, and pushing air via their stomach and directing it upwards.
