Here’s What You Need to Do to Find ‘The One’

Getting a relationship has to do with timing and luck. It is possible that you keep wondering how to go about having an intimate relationship with someone in the New Year and you are still unsure on how to go about that. While it is true that you do not have control over timing and luck, there are efforts on your part that can change the whole narrative.

You can choose to be focused on self-reflection, have a shift of mindset, prepare to take action and be at peace with the fact that rejection would come. More importantly, you can take all the efforts needed in building your self-esteem. That way, you know that whatever happens, you will still end up okay, irrespective of relationship status.

If you desire to have your special someone soon, it may be up to you to go after the person rather than simply waiting and hoping that the person comes to you. So, how can you make your desire to have a fulfilling and loving relationship become a reality in 2019? Below are some things you can and should do.

  1. You Need To Have a Good Mindset

If you are looking to have a relationship, you first have to know what it is you are looking for as well as what you actually deserve. As soon as your mind is fixed on what it is you want, there is no way you’ll want to settle for something less. Having an idea of your wants from a relationship will help you remain focused on the goal. According to Laurel House, a relationship expert, it is very essential that mutual respect exists in your relationship.

Without respect, the parties can begin to feel insecure, retaliate, resent each other, feel like they are not good enough, begin to act out and that is gradually bringing that relationship to an end.

  1. Be Open to Actually Being in A Relationship

You literally have to be open and ready to meet people. Wherever you find yourself and someone hits up the conversation, don’t be a snob. You can try to make eye contact with a person you find attractive while you wait to see how that would go.

If you are at a social setting where you get nervous, consider leaving your phone and leaving your comfort zone. That may help in inviting someone. According to an expert on body language, Blanca Cobb, whatever it is you decide to wear at any point, ensure that you feel both comfortable and good in it. Feeling good tells on your body language.

Don’t Block Out The Possibility That You May Be Rejected

It is possible that at one point or the other, you get rejected by someone you would have loved to hit things off with. That shouldn’t discourage you, neither should it be a setback from finding that right person who would make the rejection and wait worth it.

You should keep on with the search for that person.  Another relationship expert, Susan Winter said that you should always bear it in mind that the person who rejected you is just one person. Even though there is a possibility that the person is significant, their inability to love or continue to love you doesn’t make you an unlovable person.

  1. Do Not Back Down When You Eventually Find a Person You Like

It is not uncommon that people who haven’t been dating for a while would get scared when they eventually find a person they like. The possibility that the person may hurt them may want to cause them to just hold back. However, what people like that should consider is what would actually happen if the relationship works.

That could serve as enough motivation to be able to give it a try. Dr. Gary Brown, a relationship expert, said that people unconsciously fear the things they actually want. There is an unconscious fear that they would be left vulnerable and open and that is actually the pillar of all true and intimate relationships.

    Define That Relationship

If you begin to date someone, the best way to convert it from casual dating to an exclusive one is to actually define your relationship. Another dating expert, Julie Spira said once you know that there is a very strong connection between you and someone, it might be right for you to tell the person how you enjoy the course your relationship is taking. The conversation may eventually result in you getting the relationship you want.
