  • science-based

Trump also urges the CDC to be creative and find alternative words for the said banned words. For example, instead of saying “This science-based study reveals that . . . “, the CDC should revise it to “The CDC recommends the following procedures following the scientific standards and community guidelines “. One might say that this executive order is relatively simple to follow because the English language is broad and full of synonyms and antonym words to fill in, however, the current scientific studies conducted between the correlations of Zika virus to “fetuses” may face a difficulty in finding an alternative word.

Aside from the CDC, the public is also concern on whether or not the other medical agencies also took the initiative to propose the word ban. The Food and Drug Administration, on the other hand, stated that they didn’t receive instructions to ban some words.

It can also be remembered that ever since Trump ascended the office, he’s been in constant clash with the public health agencies because of his controversial “America First” campaign. He reiterated that the attending physicians and nurses must serve the American people first before extending their medical mission overseas. However, this seems to be in a tight spot since even some of the Republican legislators acknowledge the importance of such overseas medical work in order to fight a looming pandemic outbreak before it reaches the country.
