Here’s what Paltrow’s five-day detox routine looks like in case you’re willing to give it a try:

The Prepping Day

Also known as the preparation day, Paltrow says that it’s best to iron out a solid meal plan and stock up  on all the ingredients that you need a day in advance to make it easier to stick to the diet.

She also recommends making your Borscht, grain-free granola bars, and Torum (a creamy plant-based garlic condiment) the night before to get the bulk of your meal prep out of the way.

Day 1

You need to start your day by drinking warm water with lemon instead of your favorite coffee. Paltrow warns that you might experience unbearable headaches due to caffeine withdrawal at first but your body will learn to adjust to the new diet after a few days.

For breakfast, she recommends consuming that grain-free granola bar you prepared the night before and packing the borscht for lunch. You can also have a brown rice cake topped with avocado and bagel spice mix to munch on in between your meals. Finally, dinner consists of turmeric-spiced cauliflower rice with a salmon patty and a side of green salad.

Day 2

For the second day, you still start your morning with warm lemon water to kickstart your metabolism. For breakfast, Paltrow recommends a refreshing smoothie made with blueberries, chia seeds, and coconut milk.

Any leftover salmon patties from the previous night’s dinner can also be consumed for lunch to save time. For snackers with a sweet tooth, the detox plan allows sliced apples dipped in almond butter as a mid-day pick-me-up. Finally, dinner consists of a hearty beans and spinach soup and beans.

Advice

You can repeat this plan for the rest of the days. If you feel that you’re growing tired of eating the same thing every day, Paltrow recommends switching things up by designing your own meals using the ingredients permitted in the plan.
