As Sophie Turner is gearing up for the upcoming release of Game of Thrones‘ epic series finale this Sunday, the renowned actress can’t hide her excitement for another big event in her life: her upcoming wedding to Joe Jonas this summer.

After spilling the news that she appointed Maisie Williams to perform the maid of honor duties at her wedding, Sophie Turner finally opened up about how her romantic love story with Joe Jonas started. And guess what? Their first interaction was quite similar to how Nick and Priyanka Chopra first met!

Fans will be able to recall the time when Chopra confessed in an interview that Nick actually slid into her Instagram DMs from where he found a way into her heart. And now we’ve discovered that Joe also took a page out of big bro Nick’s playbook and used his unconventional technique to get Sophie’s attention.

The Story

According to the renowned GOT actress, their love story started with a simple, direct message. Turner recalled how she suddenly got a notification on her phone saying that Joe had sent her a DM on Instagram.

Upon a little investigation, the renowned television star found out that the two had lots of mutual friends who’ve been trying to introduce them to each other for a long time.

While they followed each other on social media before their official meeting and even stayed up to date with each other’s social lives, she was shocked when Joe Jonas finally took the initiative and reached out to her.

Joe Jonas and Turner made their first official public appearance as a couple in November 2016 while attending MTV Europe Music Awards.

Joe said hello to her on Instagram out of the blue and the rest is history! A month after they appeared on MTV Europe Music Awards, sources confirmed the duo was officially in an exclusive relationship. Jonas also confessed in an interview that he liked Sophie, and could see himself settling down with her.

In early 2017, Turner hinted towards something serious after she confirmed their relationship and even shared a photo on her Instagram account of the couple vacationing together in Miami.

The Most-Anticipated Question

A year later in 2017, Joe finally got down on one knee and popped the question, to which the actress said yes! Turner adds how Joe is the funniest, kindest and the most loving man in the world. 

Fans could hardly believe he’s turning 30 this year because he is still overflowing with energy and enthusiasm. He’s also the most optimistic and down-to-earth person Turner has ever met.

Turner says Joe’s optimism balances their relationship since she tends to be pessimistic.

Interestingly, it seems that sliding into DMs is a signature Jonas move that the brothers follow to find love. Joe’s younger brother, Nick, also sent a direct message to Priyanka Chopra back when they hadn’t officially met. 

The seemingly innocent DM eventually turned into a marriage proposal and then a lavish wedding that consisted of two glamorous ceremonies held in India and the United States to honor their respective cultures. But unlike Priyanka and Nick, Turner revealed she and Joe want their wedding to be more intimate.

The Upcoming Wedding

Turner and Jonas are trying to plan a low-key wedding since they want this celebration to be intimate and memorable not only for them but also for their families and close friends. The renowned GOT actress also expressed her joy and excitement for sharing her life with Jonas.

Turner said that during her rise to stardom in the entertainment industry, she suffered a severe identity crisis since she couldn’t do the things that most women her age could.

Most of all, Turner thanked him for bringing immense happiness to her life.

She didn’t get to experience having a university life or bonding with friends like a normal young adult. It made her think who she really was back then and if she really chose the right career path. Fortunately, Joe Jonas helped her find herself and get back on her feet again.
