Have Some Anger Issues? Here’s How You Can Manage It According to Experts

Are you impulsive and do you have a hard time managing your anger? Do you tend to lash out or hit things whenever you’re upset? Do your emotions dictate you to be wild and violent when you’re angry? If you are one of these people who cannot seem to control your anger, the experts recommend these tips to help improve your anger management.
What Is Anger?

According to the experts, it’s normal to feel angry since it’s part of our body’s natural response. The problem comes when you can’t handle your anger in a healthy way.
Anger is an emotion we feel when we perceive a threat according to the experts. It causes your muscles to tighten while your body releases the adrenaline hormone. This also causes your blood pressure and heart rate to increase.
Your senses will also heighten, causing your face and hands to get flushed. The health experts add that you don’t have to feel ashamed or bad when you feel angry. According to them, your anger can help you share your concerns to others. It also prevents your emotions from bottling up. It can even become your motivation to do better or something positive after a thorough heart-to-heart conversation with concered parties.
What Factors Trigger Your Anger?

According to the health experts, your brain chemistry, inherited tendencies, and any underlying medical condition plays a crucial role in your anger management.
According to the experts, many common factors can trigger your anger namely losing your patience, feeling underappreciated, injustice, feeling offended, or by simply hurting someone’s feelings. Memories of enraging or traumatic events, worrying about your work or personal problems can also cause you to get angry.
Some people may also experience unique anger triggers based on the culture or environment they’re in, as well as what they were taught to expect from others and the world around you.
For example, if your parents failed to teach you how to express your anger appropriately, you might end up being frustrated since you don’t have the necessary outlet to vent out your feelings. If not, the rage you feel continues to build up until it explodes into an angry outburst.
How To Handle Your Anger?
The health experts recommend the following tips to help you with anger management.
Expression

The experts recommend you face your anger in a calm and logical manner. It’s recommended to distance yourself for a while and cool down until your anger subsides.
There are several ways to express your anger. Others tend to distance themselves and keep quiet until they’ve calmed down. Some tend to confront it by having a reasonable and rational discussion. Lastly, some resort to violent outbursts.
When you’ve calmed down, you can go ahead and confront your anger either in engaging in a conversation or talk. If you feel like venting out your anger, you can do it the non-violent way like killing a character in your story or relaying that anger to one of your characters. If not, you can also draw or paint to express your raging emotions.
Suppression
While it’s also okay to suppress your anger or extend your patience to avoid any arguments or quarrel, you should keep yourself in check if the anger holding keeps on building up inside you. Since this anger may channel to yourself or you’ll develop a passive-aggressive behavior. It’s important you also tell them when you’re angry so that they’ll be mindful of your emotions.
Can Anger Harm Your Wellbeing?
According to research studies, expressing your anger inappropriately can be harmful to your health and wellbeing. It triggers physical chronic pain, and it’s linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and peptic ulcers.
When To Seek Professional Help?
If you feel like you’re going out of control whenever you’re angry or causing you to do things you ended up regretting like hurting the people around you, you need to ask professional help as soon as possible.
